Where Is Your Life Going?

By August 22, 2011 March 28th, 2012 LIFE

So often we drift through life with no direction and thought about where we want to go…we just settle somewhere in whatever land, longing that one day something may just happen.

While loving the idea of floating through life it’s not really the ultimate is it? Not like the feeling of when YOU have achieved something awesome because you took action. You know those butterflies in your tummy and that fire in your belly. That to me is what living is about, grabbing life by the reins and going on the ride of your life.

Do you know what you want to achieve in your life or have you discovered your passion?

Just recently a friend of mine split with her partner of six years and while it is heartbreaking and sad I couldn’t help but feel pride for both of them. You see nothing “happened” that resulted in the split however they asked a simple question “Where is this relationship going? Is it going anywhere?” They both decided it wasn’t going anywhere and it was time to fly solo for a while. That’s a tough decision because if you have a solid reason then you make the decision, however it’s much harder to ask a question when everything is OK but not great.

Which leaves you with one question- Is this it? I feel like there should be more.

While I am not an advocate of creating drama for no reason but you do need to check in every now again to ensure you’re on track. Not just in your relationship but every area of your life.

Start to think about-

  • What your ultimate day looks like
  • What are you doing
  • Who are you with
  • What can you do today to start making that happen?

Great post, Renee. It’s something we should do periodically so we know we are on the right track. Most of us don’t get around to it and I am sure that is why there are so many people with mid-life or other forms of personal crisis.

Thanks Anne, I think most people don’t because most people drift and they dont challenge themselves.I read a quote this morning “It’s common for most people to wait a whole lifetime to start living” and I thought that is very true 🙂

  • Thanks Renee, I think this posting is very important.
I recently moved as in not even a week ago. New beginnings remind you to wake up and see what it is you really want in life to make the next stage in your life – rock.

To see my puppy happy in her backyard is but one reason and indication I know my life is going in the right direction. I have more ideas and areas in my life that are part of my new phase of ‘living’ and so far I am really enjoying it.

All the best to the couple that took the step to decide what it is they really want next!

Oh Michelle! What a lovely comment I just love it, well done and I am so happy for you. Living! What a magicial word and experience it is. You know when you mentioned how happy your puppy is it reminded me of my children. We have just sold our house and bought another and while we are looking at the 100’s of houses I would always watch my girls and see how they responded to the house, if they felt comfortable running through the house or were they clinging to my leg.

      Great work
