Energetic Band Aids

Having been in this industry now for well over 10 years, I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that there is a core problem that people face when they’re going down the personal development journey and it’s simply this: Change that doesn’t stick!

I know you want to go out there and create change, but the most important thing is you want to change for good. When you put all this effort into your personal development, or all this effort into doing the process you’ve been doing, you want to make sure that the process does actually stick and has a fast but lasting effect in your life.

I know a lot of people out there go on a seminars day in day out spending weekend, after weekend, after weekend – doing as much work as possible that years later nothing has actually changed. That’s because unfortunately a lot of people going out there and looking for what we call “Energetic Band Aids”. If you’ve ever worn a band aid long enough specially out in the surf for example – you know that the band aid washes off after a couple days, if not a couple of weeks. Transformation can often be the same as well. A lot of people can actually go out there and get these things called “Energetic Band Aids”, which don’t actually get down to the root cause of the issue and as a result, after a while the change just washes off.

If you want to prevent “Energetic Band Aids”, here is my tip for you: there are 3 core things that will guarantee that you never have to deal with an Energetic Band Aid again and when you put some work on personal development you’ll actually get the result you’re looking for.

Here’s the very first thing: make sure that when you go to these personal development seminars, or when you’re doing work on yourself, reading books, or doing any types of transformation mind-set activities make sure first and foremost that you need what’s called a Values Fulfilling Vision.

This means first of all make sure you know what your values actually are and then create a vision around those values. Now, if you’re wondering what values are, it’s what your psychology or unconscious deems to be most important to you in any given area of your life. So make sure that when you do put your goals together and you set your vision up, that it is in fact values fulfilling.

The second thing that you need to understand is to have the right ingredients of Change. Change requires 3 core elements and if you apply these elements in every time that you do the work then you’re almost guaranteed that this work is going to stick.

Three core elements of change:

1. The first core element is have some form of intensity. Intensity of a one, or two, or three day live event is often a great way to create that change inside the mind that you require. So intensity is the first core ingredient.

2. The second core ingredient is what’s called layering. Once you’ve done something intense then look to layering information every a couple of weeks and you can do that by reading books, having conversations with people, finding out newsletters or reports but just continue to do the layering for a good couple of weeks after you’ve done something intense and that almost guarantees the change is going to stick.

3. The third core element is just to have some form of accountability, have someone in your life that you can actually ask to hold you accountable to the change that is actually going on.

So those three core elements is simply these: intensity, layering and accountability.

Now the third thing that I would recommend, the third tip that will allow you to really go out there and show you’d never have an energetic band aid again is this concept of Scheduling. One of the most important things we need to understand is you just have to schedule things in. It’s been said that “what’s envisioned is exciting, what’s talked about is possible, but nothing is real until it is scheduled”.

So what I’ve worked out is in life you’ve got to schedule things in. If you want to actually go out there and create the change you are looking for, my advice is straight after you’ve decided to make some change, schedule in the actions you’re going to take. Start today, or start tomorrow, but make sure you put some kind of schedule in play to let you start taking those actions.

So there’s 3 key tips again, first of all have a Values Fulfilling Vision, second of all have the 3 core ingredients of Change (Intensity, Layering and Accountability), and third of all make sure that when you’re willing to change, ready to change – Schedule in the change into your diary so that it becomes real.

I hope this has been beneficial in some way, shape or form and I hope this helps you to prevent you from going and attracting Energetic Band Aids in the future.
